Three Tips for Purchasing Call Center Furniture by Jennifer Way, Interior Concepts

Look at the Total Project Cost:
When evaluating your furniture purchase be sure to look at the total project cost. This includes not only the price for the furniture, but also delivery and installation of the furniture.

A per station price may not give an accurate representation of the total project cost because even if the per station price is lower, additional fees for delivery, installation, and space planning can drive the cost of the project up significantly. When evaluating options, look at the total project cost vs. per station price to avoid a surprise down the road.

Be Aware of Lead Times & Cost of Replacement Parts
Typically call centers have very specific open, relocation, or renovation dates that they need to meet because of building leases or purchases. Be certain when selecting your furniture company their lead times can work with your project start date.

If you are purchasing furniture manufactured overseas consider the fact that if delayed in customs that it could potentially jeopardize the opening of the site or the start date of working with a client. Similarly, if the furniture is manufactured overseas consider the cost, ease, and speed of finding and installing replacement parts and how that will impact future maintenance costs.

Consider the Warranty
Call center furniture needs to be durable because the furniture faces almost constant usage. When looking at replacing furniture for your site or purchasing new furniture consider the warranty. For example, furniture with a two-year warranty may have a higher maintenance cost, so in reality it can significantly impact the initial per station price. Furniture with a lifetime warranty may need less maintenance overall and look better for a longer period of time.
